Our certified tank removers are experts at the proper removal of USTs and restoration of properties. During a storage tank removal , the UST is pumped out, thoroughly cleaned and inspected prior to excavation. Underlying soils are field-screened for contamination post tank extraction. All associated product piping is removed, or capped off and left in place if inaccessible. Excavations are backfilled with compacted soil to avoid settling earth, and topsoil is installed to restore disturbed areas. Tank contents, product piping, removed tanks and debris are disposed of at approved disposal facilities. Complete documentation of our service is provided for customer records and Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) compliance.
Also known as tank abandonment, this is as reasonable alternative for discontinuing an UST from service and is acceptable with MDE and local regulations in certain circumstances. Tank abatement includes removal of the top portion of the UST including the vent and fill pipe risers. USTs are pumped out then thoroughly cleaned and inspected prior to fill. Sections of the tank bottom are removed to field-screen the underlying soil for contamination. The tank is filled completely with materials such as sand, gravel or concrete and then covered with the original overburden soil. The associated product piping is removed or capped off and left in place if inaccessible. Tank contents, product piping, and debris are disposed of at an approved disposal facility. Complete documentation of our service is provided for customer records and MDE compliance.
